old skool chocolate concrete... November 10 2013
There is always something baking in our house and Chocolate concrete is an absolute old skool family favourite. it's best served up with heaps of creamy warm custard or if you really want to recreate that proper old skool canteen flavour, serve up these delicious slabs of chocolatey goodness with pink strawberry custard. Delish!
It caused quite a stir when I teased you guys with pics on IG a few weeks ago, so I thought it was only fair to share the recipe here.
This is the lovely way my mom used to make It... then me and now my lovely lil girl baker is a whizz at mixing up a batch in an instant too, it's really that easy.
You will need : 200g plain flour • 200g sugar • 100g butter • 50g coco
Preheat the oven to 180c • mix flour, sugar and coco together • melt butter and add to mixture • grease medium size baking tray • press mixture firmly into baking tray • sprinkle with sugar • bake for 20 minutes • eat big bowls full until you feel nice and happy • job done :)
Yum Yum Yum. I promise big people and little people will love you forever once they've tasted this! Just look at little Immy from Instagram! she's my number 1 fan!! And that's me and my mom on the left (a very long time ago!) look at those cheeks, probably full of chocolate concrete!... and almost as impressive as my mom's super cool fro! (she'll kill me for sharing this pic but it's my fave and one and only baby pic, so I'll take the risk!)
I love that these old recipes are still going strong all these years later, it's the perfect bake for a cosy Sunday afternoon. Hope you enjoy making and eating it just as much as we do.
