customer of the week
Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 8:37PM A big round of applause may be in order (a curtsey and a bow if ya fancy!) as this folks is my first ever 'proper' blog post! Yes, its been a long time coming but i've finally made it and here it is! I'm so thrilled to be *blogging* that i may even do a little celebration happy dance around the frontroom!
'A lovely blog' is going to be a very special place where i will be welcoming you behind the scenes at 'People' and sharing some amazing stories, top fashion tips, craft ideas, projects for the home and of course any other gorgeous stuff that we love and hope that you will fall in love with too.
What better way to start than with the number one most important, most bestest thing ... the beating heart of the business ... the thing that makes it all worth while.. and that thing my lovelies is most definitely 'you' the customer!
Roll out the red carpet... because perfectly on cue ... ready to take centre stage ... ladies and gentlemen (drum roll please) allow me to introduce you to my man Wyn ~ he tells me it's short for Winston, as in Churchill, of whom he has never been a huge fan.

I know Wyn by sight, he's been walking past the shop for some eleven years now but today he comes in, he comes in to buy his wife of over 30 years this seasons must have pencil dress 'The Hepburn' ... I love him already!
We talk and talk effortlessly about the colour of his skin, the colour of my skin, we talk about education, we talk about The Hammersmith Palais and we talk about the effort his wife makes to look good each day. We talk some more about being true to yourself, about loving your children unconditionally and we also talk about false hair and false eyelashes too... brilliant! Over an hour or so later he bids me farewell and I have a heartwarming feeling I may have made a new friend for life.
The next day I have the pleasure of his company again to tell me "I'm like champagne .. bubbly, beautiful and warm" ... I'm guessing fizzy bubbles make you feel a little warm inside 'eh?.. I'm glowing all over!
This time that I shared with Wyn made me smile, it made me feel happy, it made me appreciate the diversity of customers that the People Shop attracts and it made me cherish the wonderful conversations i am fortunate enough to have each day. Its moments like these that make it worthwhile opening the white front door with the big pink heart on every single morning...
We have a little saying here at The People Shop (and its really not rocket science) but its true in every sense... it quite simply reads like this 'ITS' ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE'
People being at the heart of everything we do, at the core of all of the decisions we make and the beautiful inspiration behind this blog post.
Its gonna be a tough call choosing between you lovely lot! But here's hoping you will soon be making a guest appearance as our "Customer of the week" and if you do, i'll treat you to a bag of sherbet lemons!
until next time...
love & best wishes from
Allison xxx

Congratulation to Wyn! It's not usual for a man to buy a dress for her wife, I've never seen a guy like that. Women always shop with herself or her friends.
Good to hear about Wyn! You are lucky enough to talked to him and surprisingly, he was buying clothes for her wife. Such a very blessed wife for having Wyn in her life.
Anyway, I hope you also have time to check one of my bookmarked site on the net. I like this site for offering cheap clothing and other fashionable accessories. Its a great discounted store with great quality yet very affordable prices.
That's admirable of Wyn! I see in this also how specialty shops give a better sense of community than shopping at the malls... awesome!
Yep, it's lovely running a store in the heart of the community, we get to meet a huge range of different people and it means we have heaps of time for a good chat!
Wyn was great... and I'm sure his wife will be very happy!
